ASD Launches Virtual Summer Learning
Posted on 06/15/2020

The Allentown School District will virtual launch summer learning programs that will run June 29- August 7. Teachers will hold virtual office hours each Monday - Thursday from 9 AM - 12 PM to provide students and families with support as they work through lessons in Odysseyware and Edgenuity. These programs will run online, continuing to use the learning platforms introduced during the COVID-19 closure, All students will receive targeted, standards-based digital instruction that focuses on their specific needs. To serve our students in this new digital learning environment, ASD will create:
* 90 virtual elementary “classrooms” prepared to offer extended learning opportunities to 2,700 elementary students
* 182 virtual secondary “classrooms” will be prepared to offer extended learning opportunities to all secondary students
Students who have borrowed devices from their school may keep these over the summer. If you are in need of a device, please contact your building principal. ASD will use summer learning primarily to focus on addressing gaps in student learning as a result of the pandemic, but enrichment opportunities will still be available. The inclusion of students with IEP’s and English Language Learners will be a priority at every ASD school.
